- HTS-110 installs world-leading 5 tesla HTS neutron beamline magnet
at ANSTO, Australia
The New Zealand company HTS-110 Ltd has successfully
commissioned its latest high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet
for the Bragg Institute - part of the Australian Nuclear Science and
Technology Organisation (ANSTO) at their new OPAL research reactor near
Sydney.
The ANSTO magnet is the largest HTS-110 has built
to date, weighing over 280 kg. More than 12 km of HTS wire was used
and when running, almost 60 tonnes of internal compressive forces have
had to be managed, requiring a carefully designed combination of titanium,
carbon fibre and other composite components. More...

- HTS-110 exhibiting at upcoming Eastern Analytical Symposium, November
12-15 in Somerset, New Jersey
HTS-110 will be exhibiting at the 2007
Eastern Analytical Symposium in Somerset, New Jersey, November 12-15.
A selection of HTS-110 products including Cryosaver™
current leads and optical characterisation magnets will be on display
in our booth (#719).
HTS-110 will have members of the technical staff on
site for questions and discussion. Please contact
us to find out more about our capabilities and availability around
the time of the conference.

- Dr Mike Mallett, NMR and MRI expert joins growing HTS-110 Industrial
NMR team
Dr Mike Mallett has joined HTS-110 as Senior Product
Engineer, NMR. Before joining HTS-110's NMR team, Mike was a Principal
Engineer at Siemens Magnet Technology, UK, where he was in charge of
the design, development, prototyping and pre-production build of a new
superconducting, whole body magnet for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging
(MRI) system.
Mike previously designed and developed novel, portable
NMR imaging equipment, both generic and targeted towards agricultural
imaging requirements. He has 15 years of experience in designing, modelling
and development of superconducting magnets, NMR and imaging techniques,
and holds a PhD degree and Bachelor of Science (1st class) from the
University of Kent, UK.
Mike comments "I am very pleased to be part of a young,
ambitious company with the potential to revolutionise the fields of
NMR and MRI using HTS technology ". Dr Sohail Choudhry, CEO of HTS-110,
notes that "having Mike as part of the team is a key step in expanding
our industrial NMR strategy. His initial focus will be on the 84Mhz
NMR analyser, targeted at online process control. From there the HTS
NMR team, led by Mike, will be developing a series of HTS-NMR systems
up to 160Mhz".

- HTS-110 ships class-leading 5 tesla Beamline Magnet to HMI, Germany
HTS-110 has shipped the first of its 5 tesla HTS Beamline
magnets to the Hahn-Meitner Institute in Berlin, Germany. It is the
most powerful magnet to date from the New Zealand company, achieving
an impressive 5.4 tesla during testing, well above the 5 tesla minimum
target. The magnet is destined for magnetic diffraction research at
the Berlin Electron Synchrotron (BESSY), Germany's advanced synchrotron
radiation facility. More...
